Lanner Falcon (Falco biarmicus)

The lanner falcon is a bird originating from Africa. There are several subspecies, but all are slightly smaller than a peregrine. They can be flown in casts, and will not be afraid to hit game on the ground. In fact, they do hit much harder than a peregrine. Lanners are desert birds, and as such have a slow metabolism, so careful weight control has must be utilized to be successful with them.

We have 3 pairs of lanners:

• Pair 1: Probably from Greece, from a German breeder. This North African subspecies has a fully spotted breast.
• Pair 2: A North African subspecies, the adults have partially spotted breasts.
• Pair 3: A pure South African female and a male that is progeny from pair #1.
